The two topics that interested me the most were: Local Food/Cuisine and also the new topic on Green Energy. First off, the local cuisine topic interested me because not only I am pretty open to try any type of food, I also enjoy cooking myself. The new topic on green energy also caught my eye because currently I am starting a project based on "Going Green" in my exploratory (Global Issues Network) and I thought it would be great to continue and learn new ideas that could possibly be used in back here in Shanghai.

Welcome to Phase 1! Previously, in Phase 0 I narrowed down and chose the main inquiry project (Green Energy) that I plan to work on during the Microcampus trip. In this phase, I will be proposing main questions and also finding out more background information on my project, to add on to my current knowledge.

Previously in Phase 1, I researched some background information on renewable energy sources, as well as created 10 main questions to solve during the microcampus trip. Now, in Phase 2 I will continue my researching by finding helpful resources that can support and answer my questions.

The alumni whose projects that I looked at as resources were Kate W. (Religion of the Bai People), Alex L. (The Role of Mahjong in Village Life), and Sarah C. (End of Life Rituals).

About This Learner

Hey, my name is Nicole and I am currently 13 years old. I was born in San Francisco, California and my parents are from Taiwan. Throughout my life I have moved 5 times so I am a pretty social butterfly. Leadership and taking risks are things that I feel confident at. Photography, dance, and swimming are my hobbies and passion. I had a very delightful time exploring new cultures on my microcampus experience in XiZhou and will miss it deeply!
