The purpose of the inquiry project is to study different apsects of how the village people live. We will spend 28 days in a village investigating a topic we are interested in. There were a long list of topics to choose from, and some topics I was interested in were music and recreation/hobbies. Some other topics also caught my attention but those two were the ones that seemed most interesting to me.

In Phase 0 of this inquiry project, I read about possible topics I could study, and eventually decided on a blend of 2 topics (recreation and music). In Phase 1 I will ask questions and dig deeper to find out more about my specific topic.

In Phase 1, I researched about my topic briefly and asked questions to help guide my research later on. In Phase 2, I will focus on finding helpful resources that can help me find out more about my topic.

Here are some keywords I used while I researched my topic:

Bai minority culture: I used this keyword because it could help me get a broad understanding of the Bai minority culture. I wanted to know about the other aspects of culture, not just music and recreation.

The main point of my project will be about recreational music, and about how it has changed from generation to generation. I will include some information about how Dongjing music is slowly dying out, and how people are starting to listen to popular music more nowadays. I took a look at Ethan's project from the B group about the importance of Dongjing music. He has pretty much the same topic as me, so it helped me get an idea of how I could do my final product.

About This Learner

Hi, my name is Kevin C and I was in Xizhou in November and December 2013. It was an amazing experience for me and my friends, and it really changed the way I see the world. Microcampus is an amazing program that helped me learn more about myself. I really enjoyed microcampus and I hope that the future students enjoy it just as much.
