 I have been given the opportunity to travel with 16 other students to Xizhou, China. We will be able to stay there for 28 days observing and experiencing the daily life of a local resident. For Phase 0, we were told to look through a list of inquiry topics that we are soon going to choose from and eventually stick to for the whole trip.

In the former section, Phase 0, I went through a list of inquiry project topics, narrowed it down to my favorites, and eventually chose a topic that I am going to stick to for the trip, which is traditional Chinese marriages in Xizhou. Here in Phase 1, I will be laying out the basics of my inquiry topic, then generating a list questions to guide me through my research process.

Following the completion of Phase 1, where I generated a list of 10 "big questions", I will be moving on to Phase 2. Here, I will be finding helpful resources to dig even deeper and have a more solid background understanding of my topic, traditional marriages in Xizhou.

About This Learner

My name is Risa Y. and I'm 14 years old, currently in 8th grade. I was born in Japan but moved to China when I was about one year old and this is my 9th year at SASPD. My hobbies include singing and playing badminton. This Microcampus experience has evolved me into an independent leader and has made me gain my horizons and improve on my social skills at the same time. This has been a life changing experience and I will forever cherish and remember this special month in Xizhou.
