I have been chosen to attend the November to December Microcampus trip in Xizhou, Yunnan Province. I am staying there for 28 days along with 12 fellow students from SAS PD. Throughout this month I will be working on my Inquiry Project; a project based on a topic of personal interest. We were given a very long list of possible topics to investigate, and we were required to narrow our choices down to one desired topic. We read advice from previous Microcampus students, as well as input from Mr. T, to help choose the best fit topic.

For the past week I began working on my Inquiry Project, and I have just completed Phase 0. In Phase 0 we narrowed down our topic choices, and found which project we were going to investigate throughout the month in Xizhou. I chose to do a twist on the topic of Textile Production by incorporating economics into the project as well.

In Phase 1 I developed a list of 10 big questions which will guide my research in Xizhou. In this phase I will be working on finding new resources that can help me either answer previous questions or strike new ones.

About This Learner

My name is Ryley, and I am 13 years old. I am new to SAS and China as a whole. Microcampus was an extraordinary experience, and I had such a great time in Xizhou. I had connected with many villagers as well as formed tight bonds with my peers on the trip. The village was so beautiful, and I hope I go back to visit soon.
