I have decided to learn about End-Of-Life rituals. It may be an odd topic, but that is what makes the topic different! That is what I like about this topic. From all the types of rituals, I have decided to keep my topic as End-Of-Life, which is what fascinated me the most out of all. This subject is profound and spiritual, and deep thoughts are absolutely necessary. I find it interesting how every single religion has an independent opinion about death (or they way they "treat" it), which will eventually happen to everyone.

I know that a ritual is a "ceremony" marking a person's death. I know that the way rituals are held are different depending on one's religion, culture, or beliefs. Some well-known types of ceremonies are burials and cremations. A burial is the process of burying one's body in the ground. This includes the use of coffins. A cremation is the process of disposing one's dead body by burning it to ashes.

Now that I have come up with 10 big questions about my topic, it is time to contact some experts for more information. Some keywords I have used while collecting information on the web were Bai Minority, funerals, rituals, death, celebrations, tradition and culture. I know the information is valid if the site has an org or edu ending. Also, if the same information were repeated on several different websites, that fact would most likely be accurate.

In order to fully understand all there is to know about tombstones here in XiZhou, one must consider the materials that are used, and the process of making one. I plan on creating my own little tomb stone that symbolizes the Dynamite group as my final product.

About This Learner

Hello! I'm a 14 year old eighth grader. I'm from Korea, and it is my 7th year in Shanghai. I was very excited to be a part of the September-October Microcampus trip. XiZhou is a peaceful, bright, and unique town with friendly locals and wonderful scenery, not to mention the night skies, stars and fresh air. This town offered me self-confidence, and let me try something different for a month. I wish luck (and lots of fun) to the next group who will be part of this remarkable journey!
