There are many reasons why I cam to microcampus. One of the reasons is so that I can get out of the bubble. I think this is good becuase it gives me some freedom and some responsibiility. Responsibility is very important because I need to inderstand my obligations to things. Also it teaches me maturity as I grow up I think that is very important. There is also a price to pay for everything we do. In the words of Mr Tafel "Everything has ripple effects" That is why I came to microcampus.

Today as our evening activaty we did many things. First it started as a Black Jack night, but that eventually went down hill. We started to play other card games as other people were getting their excercise. Today is one of my last days. It feels very sad to leave, but I am happy that I get to see my family again. I think I only have 3 more days here left in Xizhou. It is almost time to leave.

Today was the first weekend. Weekends are very fun because we are able to do what we want. The only thing we have to do is Service Learning. In service learning we have to find a elder 65 years or older and interview them so we can get a better understanding of China. Something we could not get in the bubble. It is very important. Besides from that today was pretty easy and I do not have that much to report.

This is my humanities post on how Tourisim effects Xizhou. When people see Xizhou from pictures they think that it is a farming village and just that. It is truely more then meets the eye. As hotels have came they have truly changed Xizhou forever. What use to be a Backpacking trail has turned into a money pot. The Linden Centre has made fortunes on Tourisim, but how does that effect Xizhou. Many people think that it has changed for the better and there are some reasons why that is true. For example life style has improved. It seems to be a village bursting with happieness.

Today we got back inot the swing of things. Although we had trivia night we didn't do much else. Except do school work and prepare for our inquiry project. The inquiry project is a very important piece to the microcampus puzzle. It is essential to get out of the bubble and expand yourself. In order to reach new horizons. In order for you to mature it is needed. Maybe that is one of the reasons why we have inquiry projects.

We eat lunch at many places. Some of theese places are SFJ and YZR. We have many choices where we can eat. The Boys usually pick the stone table right out side of the Old Time Snacks. This is a nice table as we get to see a good view of the mountains and the big monument right beside us. The food here is very good as we have the abillaty to choose what we want. That is another reason why I like microcampus.

Laundry can sometimes be a complicated task. If you are new to it. In order to learn we had to have a seminar given to us by Ms Mai. It turns out to be alot easier then it sounds. The Laundry place is located close to the intersection and is by the Linden Centre. Laundry is very important in order to stay clean and be healthy.

Today I was able to talk to Mr linden the owner of the Linden Center and YZR. He took me to this shop where somebody was selling very old antique coins. He told me why antiques are important and why we need to use them and what they teach us about life. He showed me one really old coin wich was about 2000 years old. I was able to buy some of theese coins and add them to my inquiry project.

Badminton is a racquet sport. Players score by hitting a shuttlecock with their racquet so that it goes past the net onto the other persons side. The reason why I am sharing this with you is because basminton is big here at Sas Microcampus. It is very important to catch up with wellness as excersice is very important and must not be taken lightly.

Rooms are very spacious very homy. These consist of two bunk beds, a bathroom with a shower and a toilet and a sink. The rooms have wooden floors, and a concrete bathroom. It has a heater and some nice stone carvings. All of theese make the room pleasent to live in. This is one of the things that make microcampus good to live in.

Today we did mostly service learning. Service learning is very important to microcampus as it tells a story. It let's the people have voices and not be treated badly. It lets them have freedom. Freedom is important if such thing would exsist as Plato would say. Those are just some of the reasons why Service learning is so important. I hope that my service learning video would be as good as the ones other people made.

Today it was raining, we could smell the ozone layer. Also we did mostly catching up as we had to get everything done including Sas Essesntials. We can not work on Sas Essentials during the next week for many reasons. One reason is that we have a lot of things to do like inquiry project and Service learning. Inquiry project is due on tuesday so everyone has to finish it.

While reading my posts you may wonder what are inquiry projects. In order to know this you must first find out the definition: Inquiry the act of asking for infromation, project a task that requires independent research. Now that we have that infromation we can put those together to make an independent research task that requires asking infromation. Now to get down to what I'm doing. I am making a inquiry project on antiques and collectibles and am focusing down to antique Chinese currency. Theese currencies include shells, stones and coins.

Today was planned on mostly getting back in gear and getting ready for the Final project. In order to do this we had to carry on our research and have the reward of going to Dali Old Town Today. In order to build more Infromation I had to go interview some local antique dealers. During this process I learned what antiques are why we use them and what stories they tell. As we walked to his house I realised that Mr. Yang the antique dealer had thrown a party for his daughter who had just turned 18. Once we arrived the whole house was filled up.

Today was a day that we were at Dali old Town. The day was filled with many exciting things. Since we already went to Dali old Town before, We knew what the Game plan was for this exciting day. Dali old town is a renowned tourist area from around Xizhou. This place is fillled with massage places, icecream stands and many other western places. During the times we were there we went to get a massage, got western food and went to the sweet tooth. The Sweet tooth is a bakery with delightful sweets for all ages.

The day started off as we went to see the sun rise close to our tents. The beauty of the mountains and the sun were amazing as they warmed our faces. We started the trek down the mountains with a hope to get home. We somehow got on a detour as we were misled into the harshness of the forest. Although it took us about an hour to get out of the harsh rain. we were able to make it back to the real trail with jsut a little bit of water on ourselves. Once we got back to Xizhou life wnt on as it usually does. The later part of the day was mostly showering and settling in.

Another day of hiking came with us when we set out to get to the top of the mountain. Our goal was simple, to reach the top and we would not let anything hinder are abillaty to do such a thing. We started early as we folded the tents and got our bags on ready for the hike. There was a lot of excitement in the air as we started the voyage up. As we drew closer everything towards the ground shrinked as we kept chasing the tall mountain ahead of us. When we finally got there each one of had a big smile as we had some silent time up on the mountain as we reached our inner selves.

Today was a very challenging day, as we hiked through the harsh lands of the great mountains we moved so sluggishly as we could barely make it through all the mud and slime. The end of the hike was not very comforting as we journeyed from place to place trying to find a nice place to lie down and rest. Although it took us along time to get there we finally did it at a height of 2900 meters and we deffrinetly felt the altitude as we had people give us the increments by 100's. Overall today was a hard day as we struggled to get near the top of the mountain.

The tongue of the lake is a very wide fascinating place filled with adventure and excitement. It is home to a variety of criters and a very large wide lake. Sadly, there are many bugs and other things that would probabbly ish to cause harm to you for example needles lieing on the ground waiting indefinitely for you to stumble across them. While we were there we did many things like eat, put up our tents and watch the stars. I hope in the future we will be using this place more as we begin to become more adventorous with our living quaters.

Today I went antique hunting. In order to explore my inquiry project I needed to do some research and be able to master the special type of old currency I needed to meet some experts and maser the certain types of antiques. After this I was able to come up with a better understanding and how to differentiate certain types of coins and what we use them for. I was also gifted with a certain type of shell that was also used as coins.

This was a positve experience that we will use in the future in order to navigate around the town or if we want to do service learning. We met some locals who taught us some chinese culture and some new dances. Overall today was a really positive experience that will help me in the future.

After are weary travels walking around Dali old town we decided to stop at a local massage place in order to rest our weary bones. We realized we did not have enough time to do a full 1 hour so we decided to cut it short and go do a 30 mins. It started out when they brang out a bucket of chinese medicine and put our feet in it. The warmness soothed our feet as I could feel the water seep in through our veins. After that we decided to head back to YZR and played a game to see who could get the closest time when we arrived.

We rode our bikes through mud, dirt and soil. We saw the lake and its majesticness the smell of fresh water and how the grass grew near by. The burning of the incence near the temple. The feeling of wind as we sped through the turns and the thrill of excitment as we came close with death as a car almost hit us. After theese things happened we were forced to go back. There was some quarell among the group many people said that we shouldn't go through the harsh mud again.

It was a dark and stormy night just after the moon cake festival. We decided to depart, but suddenly we heard the constant drip of water and the bang of thunder. It started to rain as mother nature was angered and was pounding the ground with her mightiness. The air gave out a an odd stench as the airborne oils combined with other compounds. An idea illuminated our minds. We decided to pile into the car and leave our bikes behind. There was one thing hindering this plan of ours and that we did not have enough space.

Today was a extraordinary day. One of the main points was seeing the serenity and the quietness of Yunan. The birds chirping, the smell of rice, the feel of the nice air against my face, the sight of rice being harvested and the stomping of feet through the fields. As Confucius said "Every thing has beauty, but not everyone sees it" This quote took me along time to learn as I spent along time looking at the sun waiting for something to happen.

Today was mostly traveling the sites of the Yunan airport were truely diffrent then the one at shanghai. Seeing a nice blue sky for first time I have been in shanghai it was amazing. Sadly the planes and car rides were a diffrent story. The heat when we went outside didn't exactly make the situation better. When we got out and arrived in Yunan we were accompinied by fatigue as we did the death march from the car to the lodge. When it was dark the stars came out and we saw amazing sites like Venus and Jupiter. Overall today was an okay day,
Total rating 4/10
