The reason why I though I came to Microcampus was because I wanted to learn more about what life was like outside the bubble. Here I thought that I could just experience this place with out having to do much work but I was very wrong. Another reason was that I would like to see what it life would be like with out my parents along with the fact that I could have lots of freedom. I also wanted to learn abot something new and experience how people lived in the village and not in the big cities.

Today all ten microcampus students got to go on a hike. It was a half day hike that was a memorable experience. We got to see lots of nature and the air was very fresh and clean. What I loved the most was that I could just have a time where I could relax and enjoy the scenery. What I loved the most was when we got to see a valley between the two mountians. I thought that it looked awesome and that it should have won best nature award. But who knows it might have.

When Mrs. Zhang came to Yang Zhuo Ran to watch our service learning video I was very nervous. I was worried that our audience would not like our video. I thought that they might hate it. So when the clock turned to three o'clock and all the ther students with their service learning partners came in I was very very nervous.

Today when I woke up this morning it was kind of cloudy and I was hoping for a change of temperature. But sadly I was wrong. The weather only got worse as the sky started to darken as well as light drizziling. I did not notice that until Annelise and I went to our service learning partners house for a quick stop, when I started to notice small amounts of water just dropping on my face. Internally I was screaming at the weather gods for making this past few days relly bad weather wise.

Since I did not finish my wellness for this week today I got the chance. So Charissa, Jackie and I all went to the ficus tree at around 4:00 pm. There while they jumped rope I was running around trying to get in the zone. My heart rate montior was kinda broken so sometimes my rate rate apperantly went up to 235 BPM, then I got to watch Charissa and Jackie attempt to jump rope with the rope crossing in between. It was kind of funny because they failed miserablely lots of times. The wellness excercises that I had today were memorable and really fun.

Today when I woke up this morning it was raining, also it was freezing cold. When we had SAS essintials this morning, we were all in a classroom that was mostly made out of wood. That meant that over night the room cooled and so the classroom was very very very cold. Later during lunch we all huddled around one side of the table so we could generate heat. Later we had to have WIPPIS were indoors so every one was in the T.V room just trying to keep the heat in. Isabelle and I were in classroom 1 were we had the time and space to work on our projects.

So Annelise, Charissa, Jackie, and I were a team. Our team name was The Straight Up Winners. Also a requirment for tonight we all had to dress up for our team. So our team dressed up as just people who are really chill, sweatpants, baggy hoodie. Just your typical relaxing sorta wear.

Today I was lucky enough to experience something amazing. So when Isabelle and I went to go film out daily video shout out we saw a dog that had pink eyes and was growling. So the first time we were filming half way through the dog came up to us and Isabelle screamed. I mean screamed she ran behind Jackie who was filming. I did not notice the dog until Isabelle started screaming. That was the first thing that happened today.

When we got there Mr. T showed us how to set up our tents, and alsow where to find a suitable place to sleep. Once we had set up our tents, Heon and I went to look for the restroom. After walking for 30 minutes we found the restroom near the first gate that we entered. After that I took us 15 minutes to jog back to the campsite and by that time everyone else had eaten dinner.

Today for my Inquiry Project I got to talk to a doctor. What happened was after I met the dentist Mr. Mei, Jake took me to the Linden Centre staff courtyard. There he told me that he had a doctor that came to the Linden Centre sometimes. After I got the Doctors We Chat I was able to ask him lots of questions about my topic. I learned a lot from Zhu Dai Fu, he also talked to me about the healthy lifestyle of some of the people here in Xizhou. I know that I will contact him whenever I have questions that I want to ask about my topic.

When Isabelle and I went on a bike ride today near Erhai, and the traffic was horrible. When I made a turn a truck came behind me and kinda limited my moving space. After we got to the bridge the truck was about to turn to the left so we went straight and got to Erhai on time. On the way back I almost crashed in to a cart of rice stalks. After that there were lots of different things that were on the road back to Yang Zhuo Ran. Once I got back I was happy that I would never had to weave through traffic while I am here ever again.

I signed up for teacher support today. Teacher support is when you sign up to go around with a teacher so you can have moral support and they can some times help you. Jake was my teacher support today. We went to the tounge of Erhai to interview so street vendors about their food. Also we found a wet market there so I interviewed Mrs. Zhao. Later we came back and since I was the last person I got some extra time to look around. We went to the local kindergarden and I found out that they grow fruits there, which was suprising because I never knew that they grew fruits.

We had lots of time to work today at Yang Zhuo Ran. Today for me was a day where I just stayed here and worked on my project. I had fun because for wellness I took a 30 minutes nap. After that pitching in was easy because I finished everything in 45 minutes. Later for still time I just chilled up on the terrace and looked at the clouds. Lastly for Inquiry Project I was in the T.V room just finishing up my Phase 3 work. It was very easy and just a day where I could sit back and relax for a while.

Today Jake and I went on an hour long bike ride. I was really enjoyable and we got to see the process of how people made cheese. Zhang ayi the person who first showed me how to make cheese. She first put the sour solution in the pan. Sour solution is day old milk from the day before. Afterwards they put in fresh milk that they milked from the cows that morning. After that the milk kind turns in to a doughy kind of substance. After she takes it out she knee's it in her hand's then she wraps the cheese around the chopsticks. After that she wrapped it on a pole and hung it up in the sun.

Today we also learned about the cooking process for the Mid-Autumn Festivial. We saw them prepare fish, pork, yams and vegtables.

Today we had a big problem. There was no electricity of course the first thing that ran through everyone’s mind was there is no wifi. So Heon and I were just waiting for the wifi to turn off then, 47 minutes late the wifi turned off. The first thing we said was “Guys, there has been a tragedy, we have no wifi” Once that was over we just decide to ignore the fact there was no wifi and tried to do what we would normally do.

Today around 12:15pm Heon, Jacklyn and I went to go eat at Old Town Snacks the home of Tafel fried rice. When we got there Heon asked a very good question. He asked "If Mr.T can name fried rice after him why can't I ?" Afterwards he asked Zhao ayi if he could name fried rice after himself too. What a surprise we got. Zhao ayi said that it was okay for Heon to make his own fried rice. So Heon put in eggs, meat, carrots, green onion, onions and he added some chili.

Today when we went on a tour of Xizhou I was very excited to see what the area looked like. The most memorable thing was going to the rice factory. At around 10:10 when we came out of our home we saw some people threshing rice. Threshing is the process of getting the rice of the plant. At the time I did not think that that was part of something big but man was I wrong.15 minutes later we came to the rice factory. At the rice factory everyone working there was family since the rice factory or the rice noodle factory because it was a family run business.

Today we had an interesting and memorbale flight. We boarded the plane at 12:50pm once on the plane I was sitting next to Isabelle and Shanan thats when things started to get interesting. Instead of leaving 10 minutes after we got on the plane we left 2 hours after we got on. We didnt realize that we had been in the same place for two hours until Isabelle opened her phone.

In a few days we will be leaving for an month long adventure in the land of Xizhou. I am excited that I can learn how to be independent on this trip and also that I will have some personal growth over the time spent there. I am nervous that I am leaving home for a month and that I might not be that comfortable while talking to local folk. The things that I want to work on in Microcampus are Discipline and Being aware of my Surroundings because here in Shanghai I have problems with both and I hope that with the time spent on Microcampus I will be able to improve on those things.
