The reasons that I came to Microcampus before is very different from after the programe, I thought Microcampus was a opportunity to escape my school life, and the watchful eyes of my parents, to be able to enjoy the wonders of the outside life. Instead, I find new perspectives within Xizhou, that reveals more of myself and the characteristics of other people. It also allowed me to view the wonders of our environment and of the natural beauty that exists everywhere.

Today is probably that last day I would be able to enjoy the wonders of Xizhou, the fresh air, and the wonderful opportunities that Microcampus has brought me. I feel that I had achieved many goals that I have set out to complete at the beginning of this trip, such as experiential learning, and expanding my intercutural understandings, through interactions and observations of the locals, and their culture.

Microcampus doesn't shape character. It reveals it. I came to Microcampus to step out of my comfort zone and the city bubble of Shanghai. The adversity and struggles we have been through together made us each a stronger individual. We discovered ourselves along the way and what we can possibly achieve.

Perseverance and grit. In times of challenges we stood up for each other, encouraged each other to go on. The bond of the Kryptonite group cannot be created otherwise and it will forever stay as a chapter of our 8th grade life that we all share.

The reason I went to Microcampus is because I'm leaving this year and I wanted to experience the real China and wanted to step outside of my comfort zone. It pushed me to my limits and I've tried many new things that benefited me in many ways. I learned to talk to adults and have a serious conversation. I have learned to stay focused while working and be responsible. It has been a great experience.

The reason I had before I came to Microcampus is that I wanted to see the world and to be in something I will not forget. This has changed in the time that I have spent in the program. For starters I saw that Xizhou is not just a place but it is a community that needed to be connected with.

In the beginning of the trip, I wanted to come to Microcaompus to meet new people in the grade. I made the decidsion to come to Microcmapus two weeks after I arrived in SAS. I spent most of my time then hanging out with friends that I knew from before, and people in gold. I did not have any real idea of what the program actually is. I only knew that I would be away for 28 days and do something in the village. I did not understand the whole concept of stepping our of our comfort zones and out of the bubble.

Today was the day we had the Jammie Awards.

Everybody was assembled at the courtyard, ready for the night of glitz and glamour, dressed in pajamas.

The Jammie Awards were hosted at the room of Haley, Livia and Jenny, by Mr. T and Ms. Mai. They gave out awards to everyone in Microcampus; no one was left out and it was surely a night of what we were promised- an absolutely glamourous event!

Today is the last full day in Xizhou, but today was really busy day. We had to finish up everything related to work and we had to stay really dialled in in order to finish all the work that was required. We also had the Jammie Award today, and I got the Positive Impact Award, which I am honoured to receive. Microcampus has been a really good trip and our group created a really close bond with each other. This expierience is a highlight of our 8th grade life. Something unique to everyone else in the world.

She was not able to come to the showing of the video, but she came to Bao Chen Fu and we showed her the video, which I think she liked. Since that when we showed her the video, she was smiling and mouthing what she said. She was really happy when we gave her the DVD and visited her. I think she enjoyed being on the movie and talking with us, I did too. I hope that she has a happy future and remembers us even after we leave.

I came to Microcampus to experience personal growth and to connect with the local people out here in the village. I came to interact with the locals and make meaningful connections with them. I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and to experience China outside of the bubble, to enjoy the beautiful scenery and to taste the delicious food. To be able to improve my Chinese speaking skills and to constantly use it daily.

When I was signing up for Microcampus, I did not really know what I was setting myself up for, and Microcampus has been so much more than I have ever expected. I feel that the reason I came to Microcampus has really changed once I came here and actually experienced the place. Now that I've experienced Microcampus, I feel that the reason I came was to really feel "Real China". Now that I've been to Xizhou, I have really learned what China is really like, and how nice the people really can be. Another reasont that I came to Microcampus was to really push myself.

Today Mr. T, Evy and Cecily started playing Hacky Sack, and it was really funny. Cecily kept on trying new kicks and having a lot of fun. I wished that I could join but I had too much work to do. I grew really close to Evy and Cecily during the trip, they helped us a lot with inquiry and actually have a smooth transition in and out of Xizhou. I am proud to be one of the 16 students coming on Microcmapus and meeting so many new and awesome people. I wish that Evy would visit us when she visits shanghai.

It’s hard to say goodbye. Especially to a place you’ve connected with for a full month. The people, the sights, the culture… it will all be in our memories. But each step we take from Xizhou is another step into the future. As I sat on the bus to the airport, I thought of the beginning. Why did I come to Microcampus? The reasons I had before and the reasons I have now have changed. I originally came here to have a challenge, like everyone else here. Later on, I realized that I’m here to have a great experience, and learn many things.

Tonight was a night of glitz, glamour, and glitz. It was the night of the Jammies, hosted by our dashing Wink. We went into one of the upstairs rooms and cuddled up in our comfy pajamas. Wink started listed the awards one by one, and each one of us went “on stage” and gave a speech. I won the “Step Up Award”, which is an award for confidence, and stepping up to do something people usually wouldn’t do. In the end, there were laughs and cries, and then it suddenly hit every one of us that the last full day of Microcampus had ended.

During the month, our work groups each interviewed one elder of teh village about their past. We found Ms. Li, the farmer. After talking with Ms. Li, we organized the footage we had filmed, and made a 5 minute video describing her life. The official showcase of the videos was the afternoon of April 1, 2015, but since she was busy we presented it to her a few hours earlier. She was very happy, and laughed a lot, presumably because she had never had a video produced for her.

Today was the day when we started wrapping up and checking the final things off the Microcampus list. We finished the Service Learning and Inquiry Project videos, and prepared for the next day’s presentation. It was a busy day, and we all were tired at the end. It was worth it, though, because all of our projects came out just as we wanted them. I ended the day with a big smile on my face and a confidence in tomorrow.

Today is our last full day in Xizhou. I spent the entire day walking around the village, having a last look at the village, as well as saying goodbye to people. As well as that, tonight we had our Jammys. A Jammy is similar to a Grammys, but the host is Mr. Tafel, and we have to wear our pajamas to the Jammys. I won the Awareness award. Tonight was also really emotional for many of us, because we were leaving tomorrow, and talking about how we might not talk to each other at school.
