Phase 0: Getting Started: Topic Exploration and Selection

Updated 6 years 11 months ago

I can imagine lots of possible times when I can interact with the local people. Interactions with a pu'er tea expert. I think I'll be doing a lot of that, because I want to learn everything about pu'er tea including the history it of. Learning what teas are common in the host village, and through searching for them and collecting samples will provide meaningful interactions in the village. I would have to ask people and communicate with the people who live there to help me with this project.

I'm interested in investigating tea in Xizhou but more focused on pu'er tea. I decided to investigate this topic because at first I thought about investigating about tea in general, but as I researched more, I realized that pu'er tea was the tea that grows exclusively in Yunan because of the climate and living conditions. I think it is really cool that this type of tea can be grown only here in the world. This topic is important to me because I am interested in the history of pu'er tea and how it is processed. I want to find out how pu'er tea is made, where and how they grow it, and its taste and aroma. I would also like to find out the history of pu'er tea.

According to Jeanee, there are many people that I can have possible authentic interactions with including:

  • The staff at the Linden Center
  • Tea experts near or in the village
  • Tea Farmers (if there are any)

Hey Maddie,

We are in science class and we are working on the rolling and static friction. Some examples of rolling friction is a the wheels on cars and rolling down a hill. Some examples of static friction is trying to move a building. Today Jessie and I missed 11:11 today. We were spazzing a lot about it. This is so serious. Okay, have the best of luck at microcampus(:

HI! How are you doing?? We miss you in HB!!!

We lost 3 ppl in HB... It's not as loud as it used to be... -.-

In science now, I read your ting about tea! It's interesting and i'll be reading it more. (smirk) :)

Hey there! I haven't updated this description in an embarrassingly long time. I'm currently a high school junior in Shanghai American School. I was in the Alpha Pilots Microcampus group and the experience that I had was something that I'll always remember. I decided that my project was going to be on the topic of tea and how it plays into the local Bai community once I saw the surrounding environment. Note to future groups: Enjoy the moment, take in the surrounding environment, and make friends with the locals. Also, don't procrastinate, that'll stop you from doing the things you want to do (I can say that with first-hand experience).
