The two main reasons in why I came to Microcampus was to understand myself and to grow as a person. I understood that everyone will crack under pressure and usually, it is not pretty when we do that. During my 28 days in Microcampus, I realised that I needed to space out everything. Even though I could finish everything on time in Shanghai, even if it is the last minute or so, I could still finish a lot of things. But in Microcampus, all of the projects are long-term and I just can not finish a project in one day.

I have been staying in Xizhou for 28 days. Before coming to Xizhou I applied to the Microcamous journey. Microcampus has been a great experience, and I have learned so much from it. I thought I came to Microcampus to experience the culture, but after being here for 28 days, I have realized why I really came.

Today is December 15 and day 28 and our final day of Microcampus. I have been reflecting and I have come up with four reasons why I chose to join the Microcampus experience.

Before arriving her in Xizhou, I realized that I was quite reluctant to come. A couple of days before the trip, I thought about how I would miss out on all of the opportunities in Shanghai and how I would miss out on my sports. After a few days in Xizhou, I realized how incredible this experience was, and my reluctance slowly turned into excitement. I was excited to have a new experience and a new classroom environment.

There are many reasons as to why I chose to come to Microcampus, but the main reason would be to experience the "Real China". Furthermore, when Mr. Tafel presented Microcampus to us before, he told us that while we were in Xizhou, we would be aiming to achieve 4 goals: expanding intercultural understanding, experiential learning, personal growth, and leaving a positive impact. I knew that, with these 4 goals in mind, this trip would not only be fun but challenging as well. These were the reasons that I came to Microcampus. Keyword: were.

Today is December 14 and day 27 of Microcampus. Today we had to take all of the books and board games that we borrowed from the Linden Centre Library. In the morning we had to get all of the books that we had from the centre. When all were gathered all of us, but two students took a walk down the Library to place the books neatly on the shelves. On our walk there we talked and sang old songs that we all remembered. When we got there we I placed the board game Settlers of Catan back on top of the shelf after two immensely fun nights of play.

Today is December 14th, 2017, and today is the last whole day that we have in Xizhou. Today was a relatively peaceful and calm day, but since it was our last day at Xizhou, we had a lot of packing and wrapping up work to do. During the morning, we all tried to finish all the wrapping up work so that we would have more leisure time in the afternoon for last minute goodbyes. We were all very sad to be saying our last goodbyes to the citizens of Xizhou, whom we might never see again.

At first, our Zhou Nai Nai was a little hesitant to come to the event. She ended up coming, but once Mr. Tafel announced that our group was up next, she was yet again a little hesitant to watch our video. Our group was up at the front of the crowd so that we could watch the audience instead of the film. While up there I kept note of what facial expressions Zhou Nai Nai had.In the first scene in our video, Zhou Nai Nai was dancing with a musical stick. She was smiling the whole time, but I also feel like she was a little bit embarrassed about it.

During the afternoon of December 13th, 2 days before we leave for Shanghai, Mr. Tafel help an event where we shared our service learning video with our service learning partner and other citizens of Xizhou. People who came include Mr. Wang (our service learning partner), Ms. Zhou (the other service learning group's partner), Ms. Zhao (Owner of Old Town Snacks), Ms. Chen (Ms. Zhao's mother in law), and some Linden Centre staff. All in all, today was really successful.

I first was introduced to Microcampus when 2 eighth graders disappeared from the Choir concert. I wasn't sure what Microcampus was back then, but I knew it something to do with disappearing for a month to a place. I got to know Microcampus better when I met Debbie and Marco from the Tactical Group. They told me that it was an incredible chance that I have to sign up for. At the end of seventh grade, Mr.

When Saleem and Julia (our Service Learning group) brought Zhou Nai Nai to YangZhouRan, we gave her a tour of our home. Since Zhou Nai Nai's husband used to work here before retiring 7 years ago, she would tell us where the working area, kitchen and the rooms used to be compared to the design now. She told us that the design now is better compared back to the old days. After showing her around, or more like her telling us where places used to be, it was time for the Service Learning Video Sharing.

Today's afternoon was very busy for me and my group spent the whole afternoon working on Service Learning. We got our first check with Mr. Tafel but he sent us back to work because we haven't followed his instructions. At 1'oclock we went to have Ms. Ling, Mr. Chen, Ms. Braverman and Ms. Song, native Chinese speakers to check our Chinese subtitles. They gave us a bunch of suggestions and we had to change every single wrong detail. It was very frustrating us we had to be really careful and be precious with our editing and the timing of our subtitles.
