Today was the first day of the weekend to rest and recover. When we woke up, we woke up camping. We packed everything up after breakfast and headed home to BaoCheng Fu. When we got home we had to set up our tents so that they could dry out. After that, I took the greatest shower ever, with hot water and soap. It was nice to take a small nap in my feather bed with my pillow once again. During down time our service learning groups went out to have conversations with local's and make connections. I cant wait for tonight's sleep in my comfortable bed!

This morning we woke up in our tents ready to go home. Many of us barely got any sleep, and many of us were paranoid about the wind or other things. We packed our things and headed back to BaoChengFu. We took the shower that was much needed and got time to ourselves. My service learning group and I went out to make new connections. We went to a pagoda where some elders were hanging out. I got to witness multiple intense matches of Chinese chess.

Today we returned from the campsite in the morning. My group and I spent time making connections in order to assist us with my Service Learning project. We found our contact today and I feel really great about where we are and where we can go. This is a weekend that will be about rest and recovery from the 5-day grinds. I plan on making some phone calls and arrangements for my Inquiry Project. I plan to rest and start the new week giving all I can give. Half of this trip has passed already, so it should be put as a priority to give my best and trust the process.

The highlight of my day was when Mr.Wang and I had a very good conversation to get to know each other better and we even talked about some parts that revolves around my Inquiry project. He is a very nice person to talk with and I think that he is willing to be our service partner if our following plans does not work.

Today (Day 14), we went on a hiking and camping trip. That gave us a break from the Inquiry Project. The skies were very beautiful. Although it was an overcast day and there weren't any stars that we could see, the sky had the most splendid shade of orange. Actually, I have to say, the Inquiry Project is like a baseball game. There are punctuated moments of excitement and there are the three ball, zero strikes counts. It's one going to work if the process is followed accurately and thoroughly. So far, as for my Inquiry Project, it is going very great for me.

During day 14 of the the microcampus trip, we have hiked up the horse tea trail and went camping in a farm land. We each indvidullly have grown from these four big mirocampus visions (experiential learning, personal growth, expanding intercultural understanding, and having a positive impact). For experiential learning, we hiked up the trail ourselves with some guidence from the guider. Personal Growth is where I was the leader of the hike when we hiked uphill and sleeping alone in a tent.

Today we did not have any WIPPIS time, instead we had a hike and a camp out. We pitched our own tents, carried our own bags. For dinner we ate XiZhou BaBa sandwiches. The hike was extremely tiring but once we got to the top, the view was amazing. The process was nonetheless enervating. After carrying our belongings to the top of the mountain, we carried it back down the same route. We took a car to the camp site and set up our tents. At night when we were sleeping the wind blew unforgivingly.

Today, Instead of WIPPIS time, We went camping. We started our day like a normal day. However when after lunch we drove down to a hiking trail. It was a beautiful hike being able to see Lake Er Hai most of the way up. It was a great hike that wasn't too challenging but really beautiful. When we were able to get to the top we had a truly stunning view of Er Hai and other villages. We went back down the trail to the base in order to drive to our camp spot. The camp spot was very interesting because it wasn't what I was expecting. It was sort of a tent hotel.

On day 14 of Microcampus, our group went on a hike in the mountains and camped after that. I had expected it to be much more exhilarating than what it had been, but that does not mean that the experience did not challenge me; however, it was still an experience that inspired personal growth, intercultural understanding, and positive impact.

Today, I was worring so much about my inquiry project that it distrurbed my morning's mood. This was because we have almost a week time or more to finish our inquiry project and I could not visit the elderly people because of my time slot. I also felt lots of pressure because I am the first one to ask about this inquiry topic "wealth and status" and it is pretty hard to discuss with the villagers.

Today I talked with some older people in Xizhou around Sifangjie to see what they know about the Flying Tigers. I'm not gathering information, but I'm getting a sense of how this piece of history is being passed down. When the next week starts, I plan to talk to the teachers in the school. Today is again a pretty normal day. I look forward to finishing up field research and synthesizing the information I have gathered with "hooks and hangers." It will be fun! We do have a hike and camping trip tomorrow! I will keep all of you posted on that.

We have 10 days to decide how our final product is going to turn out. We had our hangs and hooks talk after the daily meeting. It's about piecing together the pieces of information we have gathered. The hanger is the type of our final product and the hooks are the peices of information we need to know to support the thesis and the type of product.

Today was yet another sunny day. Tomorrow we have our hike, if the weather permits. Thankfully the rain has gone, and the sun has come out. Hopefully tomorrow there will be no rain, and the hike will be successful. Today we received the hangers and hooks talk about how we should continue on with our inquiry project. Soon we will be starting up on our service learning work. Last night for our evening activity Gabby, the visiting artist gave us an intro to charcoal. We drew a pair of scissors leaning up against each other. Many of my peers had great drawings.

Yesterday for the evening activity, our house guest so kindly hosted an intro to art class for us. A couple days ago, a lady by the name of Gabby moved into Baochengfu. She is staying in Xizhou for 2 weeks working with the Linden Center teaching art classes. She then proposed an Introduction to drawing class. it wasn't exactly a drawing class but it was much better. We ended up using charcoal paints and powder. We started off the lesson with the quick usage of charcoal powder on a brush, we then moved to the charcoal pencils.

Today I went for another bike ride with Nolan to Lake Erhai. Again, it was very peaceful and tranquil there. My inquiry project is again on wheels again. I feel like by adjusting my project to focus more on preserving the Flying Tigers history. I made this adjustment because there aren't many people that actually remember the Flying Tigers and I can interact with schoolteachers and everyday people to see how this period in history has been passed down through generation.
