I came to Microcampus becasue I wanted to learn in a new enivornment insted of just the regular classroom. I started out thinking that it was going to be like a month of China Alive, which it was but without all of the activities also, we would choose what we wanted to do which ever day it was. Before I was also thinking that I was not going to be as stressed since we were not going to be working on and SAS work.

Before coming out to Microcampus, I honestly expected something completely different. I honestly thought that it would be more of a break then what we actually did. When I got here, I started to realize that it was not the case. Microcampus is a program that changed my point of view on certain things. I also got the change to reflect about myself as a person. I was trusted not to run out into the streets but to behave properly. This was a trip where independence was handed down and we were trusted with it. If I were to sign up again knowing this, the reasons would be different.

The reason why I though I came to Microcampus was because I wanted to learn more about what life was like outside the bubble. Here I thought that I could just experience this place with out having to do much work but I was very wrong. Another reason was that I would like to see what it life would be like with out my parents along with the fact that I could have lots of freedom. I also wanted to learn abot something new and experience how people lived in the village and not in the big cities.

Before this trip, I wanted to come to Microcampus because I wanted to see my limits, and I wanted to try to see what I could learn about the world outside of Shanghai. Now I truly know why I came to Microcampus. Now I have come to understand that I came to Microcmpus to understand the Chinese culture better, and that not everywhere is like Shanghai. I also believe that we came here to learn life lessons. Some of the life lessons I learned was that the last 15% is not extra work, and to never procrastinate.

When I signed up for this program, I simply did it to live up to my parents' expectations. My sister went on Microcampus, and had I not signed up, my parents would have been disappointed. Of course, I was still excited to travel back to this beautiful village. It was just that I did not fully understand the idea of why I was going, and what I was going to accomplish there. I wanted to learn about my topic, and learn how to get out of my comfort zone. Though a seemingly dull goal, this is truly what I wanted to learn. I would later find out that this was not why I came to Microcampus.

When I fist signed up for Microcampus I did it because I had some interest in the program. I wanted to go and learn how to communicate with the people in Xizhou and my parents supported it. Though I did have some second thoughts I still wanted to go and learn. I did not expect to learn that much about myself but I expected to learn more about the people here. When I first stared the work I thought that there was not going to be that much but I was extremely wrong. Though I did a little on how to talk to people I learned more about my self and some habits that I could fix.

Others may have came to Microcampus to learn how to live. They may have came here to learn how to work more efficiently, but the reason why I came to Microcampus is completely different. Before the trip, I thought I came here to go outside of my comfort zone. I strongly believed the reason I came was because I was scared about confronting people, and this journey would be able to help me reach outside of my comfort zone. However, once I came to Microcampus, I realized that this was not the case. I did not have that big a problem talking with locals and finding connections.

Today I went on a hike during this time I was wearing the Heart rate monitor, during this time when I was wearing it, in the beginning the HRM was not working so then I was resetting and but it still was not working so then right after 10min of us hiking, the HRM finally started working. Another thing during the hike was when I accidentally dropped my hat into the river and then I needed to run after it.

In the beginning when I was first applying, I believe that I was going to Microcampus just to study my topic and leave. At the time, I had no idea about what experiences I would have, and what things I would learn that is beyond my topic. Microcampus was most certainly the adventure of a lifetime, but my idea of what I thought I was coming here to do was very different in the beginning than it is right now at the end of Microcampus.

Today was officially our last day in Xizhou. We spent the morning tying up loose ends. After the daily meeting, we packed our bags and said a final goodbye to our favorite locals here in the village. It was tough to part ways, but I am sure that I will visit Xizhou again in the near future. After lunch, which was made up of everyone's  favorite dishes, we embarked on the hike!

Today was the last full day of Microcampus, and a feeling of melancholy followed me everywhere. However, we were able to finish things on a nice note by hiking. I mainly hiked with Annelise, Charissa, and Heon, and we were able to keep each other company throughout some trecherous trails.

When I first signed up for Microcampus, I did so because my parents, my mom in particular, told me to. I thought that I was signing up in order to experience life as it should be, not life as it is in the city. Later, when I was accepted into Microcampus, I thought that I was going in order to study my topic, enhance my Chinese language skills, and learn about the village of Xizhou and its inhabitants.

Today I went on the hike. It was really tiring, but I gained a lot from it. I felt myself growing a stronger bond with my fellow Microcampus student, and I was really glad that I got to come to the hike. I wish that I was able to do the 3 days hike because then I would have been able to learn about myself better. When we got to the top, the scenery was really beautiful, and I felt really accomplished. When coming down, we did take a 10 minute detour, and it was a little bit more tiring, but I really loved the hik today.

Today all ten microcampus students got to go on a hike. It was a half day hike that was a memorable experience. We got to see lots of nature and the air was very fresh and clean. What I loved the most was that I could just have a time where I could relax and enjoy the scenery. What I loved the most was when we got to see a valley between the two mountians. I thought that it looked awesome and that it should have won best nature award. But who knows it might have.

Wow! Today was our last full day at Microcampus, and I could not have spent it better. We went on a hike to about halfway up Cang Shan. The view was simply breathtaking. Going up and down the mountain was well worth it. Going up the mountain we had struggles, slips, and falls but we got there. The same was for the way down. We had our slips, falls, and scratches but we eventually got to our destination.

Today was our last full day here in Xizhou. We were given the chance to say goodbye to all the people we had met and all the friends we had made in the village. In the afternoon, we went on a half-day hike at Cang Shan.

Today was the last full day at Xizhou and we went on a hike to the mountains. The hike was very tiring and it took six hours to climb up and down the mountain. We went around 2600 meters up the mountain. When we went down the mountain we took a 10 minute"detour" and went through a graveyard, twice. It was tiring because we had to take our big hiking backpackes and went up steep hills. On the way down there were mossy rockes that were very slipery and Annelise and a lot of other people, including me, sliped on.

The experience of sharing the video with Yang Nai Nai was nerve racking at first because I did not know if she would like it or not but at the video continued she stated to smile. In the middle of the video she turned to talk to another service learning partner also called Yang Nai Nai and Deng Nai Nai to talked to them. She was smiling close to the end and she looked very happy.
