Day 28: Why Did I Come To Microcampus?
In the very beginning, I had no clue what this 'Microcampus' was. When the Dynamite group came back from Xizhou, I heard many of them talking about how amazing it was there. That was when I realized that Microcampus was taking a 7-hour bus ride and a 3-hour plane ride to Xizhou and staying there for 4 weeks. I thought it was cool to experience so I just thought might as well go for it! I signed up for Microcampus, and after a couple of weeks, I found out got accepted.
I came here to Xizhou for many reasons. I wanted to be an independent person and not always rely on others for help. I wanted to challenge myself and step out of my comfort zone. I wanted to take breath-taking pictures that I will treasure for the rest of my life. I thought one month was too long but now that I think about it, one month seems way too short. I realized how time flew by so fast after the first day we came here. I still remember the day we were on the plane, flying to Xizhou. It felt like yesterday. I felt like going back in time to the very first day and go through this Microcampus experience all over again. I still remember the day when I wanted Microcampus to be over. I wasn't used to the schedule and the daily routines at that time. Now that today is the last day of my Microcampus journey, I feel like staying here for another week. To have my own free time and do whatever I want. I still remember the night packing for the departure to Xizhou the next morning. I didn't want to go at all. I didn't want to leave my friends and family. I didn't want to spend 4 weeks with a bunch of 8th graders I didn't know that well. I felt like this was going to be the worst 4 weeks of my life. I was completely wrong. These 4 weeks with the crazy Fearless crew has been the best month of my life. I came to Xizhou with a far relationship with the 15 8th graders and now I'm leaving with a closer relationship with them than I have ever had. I didn't think coming here to Xizhou for 4 weeks would be very fun. Guess what? I'm wrong once again. Unlike Shanghai, there are blue skies, starry nights and the nicest local villagers I have ever met here in this amazing place called Xizhou. Those of you who are going to Microcampus during the next couple of weeks, make the most of it out of those 28 days. You have no idea how fast time flies by here. This month has been the best month of my life and I will definitely treasure those precious memories forever. This trip has taught me to be FEARLESS.
