Day 27: The Microcampus Experience

I feel like just seven days ago we were introduced to the 15 other students we were living with for a month. I fell like just seven days ago, our roommates were picked and we were stuck for a month, not knowing that we will get the dirtiest sock Jammie Award. I fell like just seven day ago, I did not know that I would learn so much about my self and that this experience would shape me into a brand new person. I fell like just seven days ago this village named "Xizhou" was alien to me.

I remember the second day of this journey when we had our tour. Everything seemed so big and confusing, I had no idea where I was going and when we had to bring our selves back to Yangzhouran, I thought I would get lost.

I made such deep connections and friendships with the people here, Mr. Du, Mr. Ding, Mr. Yu, Mr. Cheng, Ms. B, the lady who sells Boba tea, the man that sells and makes Baba, the owners of Yuanzhikou, and many other people. They were all so friendly and kind offering us food and drinks before our departure.

The map and people of Xizhou have been carved into my soul, and I will never forget there kindness and generosity. I will definitely come back, whenever I can and whenever it is possible.

I never knew that leaving this village would make me so sad and heartbroken.

My name is Brandt L. and I am born in Nagoya, Japan the moved to Shanghai, China when I was two years old. I have been in the SAS community for about 5 years and it has been an amazing and a wonderful time. I have a sister called Vanessa who was part of the Microcampus E group. The 28-day Microcampus experience has been a wonderful experience that I will never forget in my life. I definitely want to visit Xizhou again in the future for the amazing community, scenery, and delicious food!
