Day 27: The End

If this Microcampus journey was written as a book, this would be the very ending.

I can imagine the beginning of the story as an introduction to all 16 of us; all unsure and unfamiliar with our surroundings, missing home and our family and friends. Chapter after chapter, after all the wisdom Mr. T and Ms. Mai have shared, we all learn more about ourselves and about our community.

Over the course of these 28 days, each of us found a new home. Each of us learned more about ourselves and made connections that we would not make otherwise back in Shanghai. We became part of a new family and a new community. The attachment I have developed towards this village has grown throughout the trip and now leaving forces me to cut the string that ties me with Xizhou. Time has flown by so quickly, and in a blink of an eye, a month has soared by.

And now, with the trip ending, we are preparing to take back the lessons we have learned and the memories we made in Xizhou. I hope that we also get to continue the friendships I have made here and use the habits I have made as well.

Goodbye Xizhou, and goodbye to all that you contain.

Goodbye Microcampus, and through the tears and pain

I hope to always remember this experience and I hope to be able to reminisce about it at any point of my life.

I was born in Canada and my family is from China. In my free time, I enjoy playing soccer, playing with my dog, talking with my friends, and learning new things. I have been to two previous schools prior to coming to SAS in cold Canada and sunny California. The month that I spent at Microcampus has been really memorable and an experience that I will never forget in my life. I am yet to return to Xizhou to see the community, scenery, and taste the food again!
