Day 26: Service Learning

For our Service Learning sharing, we invited many locals and a few friends from Shanghai and Chicago. It was really nice to see some familiar faces from Shanghai. Mr. Zhang was able to come and watch our video. It was a very unique and interesting thing since we were looking at the audience watch our video instead of watching it ourselves. I saw a lot of people tearing up and getting all sad when Mr. Zhang talked about the losses he had in his life. It was not something you would do often but it is a great way to see how your video turned out. I saw everyone really enjoying their time here.

When Mr. Zhang was watching our video. He looked very happy and had a wide smile on his face. He looked very content and touched by our video. It was not an every day experience but it was a very fascinating one. I saw how effective our video was when I saw people tearing up and Mr. Zhang with that big smile on his face. He has been very kind to all of us and very helpful throughout this process, he was willing to come even though his families business was very busy when he left. This sharing has turned out way better than I expected.

After the sharing, we started to play hacky sack. Soon Ella, Griffon, their parents, Mr. Evans, Mr. McSwiney, and Ms. Naughton joined us. It was really fun with a huge group. It was a bit loud but everyone was happy and enjoying the moment. You never really get to do that with a teacher when you are in school. We played for almost an hour until we had to leave for Dali Old Town.

It is sad to think that this is our last time in Dali Old Town. Even though it is very touristy, it is still a nice place. I enjoyed Stella's Pizza. I got really full after that but the food was so good. I also bought a few things for my friends and family back at home. I can not believe I will be seeing them soon and tomorrow is our last day. I will miss this place dearly.

My name is Annie Y. I am part of the Superior Microcampus group. As of March 4, 2017, I arrived in Xizhou. We stayed in Xizhou for 28 days. Those 28 days has been such a unforgettable experience. I got to connect with the people here. They were very nice and welcoming. The weather was really nice. There was pretty blue skies and puffy white clouds. I miss everything about Xizhou and the Microcampus experience.
