Day 23:Dumpling Night

Dumpling Night! We all worked together to make dumplings for dinner, like a team. All of us, or at least me, jamming out while rolling out the dough. It felt like home. Me cooking and singing along to my tunes. When I could no longer roll out another dumpling wrapper, I went to the courtyard where I played some badminton, in particular star shaped badminton. Yes people, believe it! It exists. We invented it ourselves. It consists of a 5 pointed star. From there we switch spots while playing badminton. We boys smoked us on our first try, but then we got the hang of it. Tonight, we beat them on round. Very exciting stuff. These are the types of things we do here at Microcampus. I take great pride in my status of the IASBAF. Now we’re going to spread the sport around the world. The evening ended with eating our dumplings that we made. It was nice to have something different. I miss you dumplings and star shaped badminton, I will miss you.

Hi Alex,

Hi Alex,
As you can see I've been catching up on your journal! I don't know how the time went by so quickly. I thought I'd check in with you tonight and you're on day 23!!! How did that happen? the kids have been on spring break here, so they kept me busy last week. It seems like you are having such an amazing trip - and really doing a great job of making the most of it. I love that you are rolling dough for dumplings - and finding ice cream and tofu while waiting to do your interview--just like your dad! :) And how cool that you have invented a game when you are there to study play. You will leave your mark!

Hey guys, I'm Alex! I lived in Washington D.C, US for 11 years and have lived in Shanghai for almost 3 years now. I love to travel, eat, and learn about new things! I am here at Xizhou and loving it. The highlights are the kind people, the blue skies and starry nights, delicious food, and the outdoors. So far, thumbs up! It feels like it is going by too fast
