Day 20: Impact of Tourism in XiZhou

This journal post is written for school purposes about the Impact of Tourism in XiZhou

Tourism is a big part of XiZhou. Evian, who I have gone to many interviews with, when she asked business owners if they thought that tourism was good for XiZhou or not. Every single one replied that it was because tourists liked to go to their shops to eat, buy and with more tourists they got more income. Tourists are good to them because they bring income and help the economy of XiZhou. Tourists although, crowd XiZhou, they litter, they make XiZhou more into a tourist place than a great village with great food. XiZhou is going to change and it has already started changing. All the tourists that come will make an economic impact on XiZhou but does not mean that they will make a positive impact.

Relating to Microcampus, one of our four pillars is Making a Positive Impact. Although we are some people woudl call "tourists" instead of just staying here for a few days or just a day, we are staying here for a month and we think of making a positive impact on the community. When tourists come here, they come here to get souvenirs, eat XiZhou baba which is not bad, its just that they do not think of the impact that they are making. If someone thinks of impact, they think of economic impact which the tourists do have but the best type of impact, positive impact is not what they think about.

Hi guys! My name is Yun Kei. I am Singaporean and have lived in Taipei, Paris and now currently Shanghai. I am part of a family of four and my little brother is in fifth grade. Microcampus and XiZhou have made a big impact on me and I miss it very much. I miss the blue skies, the ability to talk to locals, the food and pretty much everything about it. I have made many friends and memories here and I am glad that I came.
