Day 17: Hanging in Old Town

After our 3 day hiking trip to a tiny place called Hua Dian Ba, we got to go to the “big” town tonight. This was our second time to Dali. This time, fortunately, we got to have more time to walk around and enjoy the sights. Cass, Nike, Peyton, and I went shopping for some hippie pants, funky bags, patterned cloths, and punk rock spiky bracelets. We happened to find all. Their is some decent shopping in Dali, so we want to bring back some gifts for our family and friends. It nice to see city people again, with the crazy outfits and funny hair. Shopping can only last so long, and we hadn’t eaten in a while so of to the restaurant road. Last year’s alumni recommended a place called the Civilized Orangutan (it’s called something else, but let’s just leave it at that). Quite the spot! It reminded me of my parents and how they talk about their backpacking days. The burgers were awesome and the people their were cool. We all had such a great time hanging around in Dali Old Town I didn’t want to leave. We went to our usual place, Sweeth Tooth for some killer desserts and a nice cup of coffee. Dali old town is pretty cool.

Albert Einstein is quoted as saying, ""Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is to not stop questioning."

Consider questions from this adventure that you may have placed in your "personal file" to consider for weeks, months, even years to follow.  No need to share them as they are your questions - but consider the possibilities.

Hippie pants? What do they

Hippie pants? What do they look like? You've had a range of experiences in this adventure. I strongly support Elizabeth's comment, especially the part about "consider the possibilities". And you're a coffee drinker now?

Dali Rock n' Roll

So... Dali sounds like local Shanghai. Hippie pants, funky bags, patterned cloths, and punk rock spiky bracelets are cool-tastic, it seems amazing that you can find things like that in such a 'rural' place?! Does burgers remind you of us in SAS? Wish I was there too :)

Hey guys, I'm Alex! I lived in Washington D.C, US for 11 years and have lived in Shanghai for almost 3 years now. I love to travel, eat, and learn about new things! I am here at Xizhou and loving it. The highlights are the kind people, the blue skies and starry nights, delicious food, and the outdoors. So far, thumbs up! It feels like it is going by too fast
