Day 16 : Tea Day with the Side Dish of Xizhou Baba

Today was our last to chill and relax before our last full week of Microcampus full of due dates. I love weekends at Microcampus because we get 1 hour of Down Time and half an hour of still time. Back in Shanghai, I never have the opportunity to stare at the blue skies, forget about my stress and wonder. The terrace here at our home, Yang Zhou Ran is beautiful and a perfect spot for stress relieve.

During Down Time (free time) today, Henin and I went outside to make connections. We went to the tea shop near Old Town Snacks and met the most generous guy ever, Mr. Wang. Mr. Wang is a tea seller and likes to collect all sorts of local goods in his free time. He was really generous to me and Henin and gave us free tea and even bought us Xizhou baba.  When Henin and I told him we were going to buy Xizhou baba, he told us to let him buy it for cheaper. The normal price of Xizhou baba is 10 RMB but since he was friends with the seller, he got in for 6 RMB. Mr. Wang told us all the different tea and the effects of drinking the tea. He told us about his family and told us that we can come and visit him whenever we want.  At the end, I bought some Hei Tang (black sugar candy) that comes in different flavors (etc rose, cinnamon....) and Henin bought rose tea for her family.

I love how Xizhou's citizens are so kind to each other and treat us like we are part of the community and family.

Hey guys! My name is Hayley and I am now an alumni of the 21-st Ultimate Group. I enjoy playing volleyball, making Youtube Videos and cooking in my free time. My journey at Microcampus has been amazing and through the up's and down's, I learned so much about my inquiry project, the village, the citizens and most of all, myself. I will never forget my home away from home, Xizhou with its delicious food, blue skies, stars and kind locals. 喜州,我想你!
