Day 14: Hiking and Camping

Today is already day 15 of the trip but since yesterday we were hiking and camping, so there was no wifi and computer to write a journal. The hike was quite tiring but we learned to perservere and get to the top as a group. The point of the trip was the big 4, Experiential learning, positive impact, personal growth, and intercultral experience. I experienced all of them in some way during the hike. It was fun but tiring. At the top of the mountain peak, we saw a huge part of Lake Er Hai. It was so pretty and I saw why the people in the village call it an ocean. It was massive and while we were up there, we found many old pieces of bowls and sandscript. It was really interesting to see some of the ancient things there that have been dug up because of the construction.

Camping was nice but it was quite hard to sleep. The wind was strong and I kept waking up in the middle of the night. I kept thinking that my tent got blown down or someone was outside. It was a cool experience but not always the most comfortable and restful.

My name is Annie Y. I am part of the Superior Microcampus group. As of March 4, 2017, I arrived in Xizhou. We stayed in Xizhou for 28 days. Those 28 days has been such a unforgettable experience. I got to connect with the people here. They were very nice and welcoming. The weather was really nice. There was pretty blue skies and puffy white clouds. I miss everything about Xizhou and the Microcampus experience.
