Day 2: First Time out in Xizhou

Well, first day out in Xizhou and what a beautiful village. We did not meet a single unfriendly person the whole day. We constantly asked questions about them, what things are, and basically everything there is to know and they didn't even mind. One memorable time was when we went on a horse ride out to lake Erhai and around the other villages. The architecture is so gorgeous. You can really see history all throughout the village. Now we have to go figure out our laundry situation. Hope tomorrow is just as great as today!

It sounds like you had an incredible day! You must have loved being on horses, seeing the mountains and just the serenity of the place. I am so thrilled for you as you discover and imagaine! Enjoy your time, we are watching and reading your movements from afar. I miss you so much today that I wore your shirt! I love you! Miles said he misses you tonight. Enjoy yourself and just keep going with your inquiry!

Alex - the Lama-Hurley family

Alex - the Lama-Hurley family will be following your experience as it unfolds! I'd love to hear more about the architecture (and the people of course). I've heard the people are very friendly from things I've read and from people I've spoken with who've traveled around that area. Back here in CCH the crocus's (not sure if this is the correct plural form) are up and the daffodils will be blooming soon. I look forward to reading more of your journal! Hugs, Yanji

What an adventure you are

What an adventure you are having! I am so glad you have the opportunity to spend time in a village and learn about life in rural China. Looking forward to learning from you how the people spend their leisure time.

Hi Alex!

Hi Alex!
I am so interested for you to be our eyes and ears in Xizhou--and what an amazing adventure for you! In addition to learning about local customs and play, i hope you find friendship in your new home (and get your laundry done too!). best of luck!

Awesome opportunity. Thank you for sharing it so eloquently. We can all live vicariously through you. Have a great time and make many wonderful memories. We'll keep checking in for updates.

Love, Katie, Chris, Kayleigh and Dylan (Charley is proud of you too, just not here as we craft our message).

Best of luck Alex!

So glad you got there safe. I went back to bed when I got home. We will be following your adventures closely, though not TOO closely. And I promise not to use any goofy nicknames in public postings :) Good luck with the "landuary" - hopefully you have not generated much so far. Love you lots.

I hope you have an AMAZING time and it certainly sounds like you will! Love you!!!

Hey Alex.
Is preparing a meal a social event like we sometimes have? Does everyone help? When folks play or explore what, if anything,do they take along for snack. Do the folks sit around the it a gathering place?

Hey guys, I'm Alex! I lived in Washington D.C, US for 11 years and have lived in Shanghai for almost 3 years now. I love to travel, eat, and learn about new things! I am here at Xizhou and loving it. The highlights are the kind people, the blue skies and starry nights, delicious food, and the outdoors. So far, thumbs up! It feels like it is going by too fast
