Day 18: Hacky Sack and Due Dates

Today is December 5 and also day 18. We are already passed the halfway point of our Microcampus trip. Yesterday for dinner, the whole group went out to eat at a Ma La Tang restaurant. Ma La Tang is like hot pot, but with noodles. We then came home and settled down with some quiet reading, and then went off the bed. The next day we went through our daily cycle again. When we came back from lunch, Mr. Tafel brought out the hacky sack. We joined him to play, and at first, it was just three people. It got even harder because more people came to join, so we did not get a hack as easily as we could have. We then asked Mr. Tafel if it was okay for us to play with the hacky sack during wellness. He said yes, as long as we get good TZ. We came up with an idea that if the hacky sacks falls and touches the ground, then we have to run 2-3 laps around the courtyard.
After our wellness time, we had our inquiry project time. Today Phase 3 was due, but before that time I went out with Ms. Mai to talk to some more people in the village. I learned some more stories that are possible candidates for my final product. Today was a fun day, I can not beleive we are already more then half way through our trip, but I can not wait for the great days to come.

My name is Saleem E. I am 13 years old and my favorite sport is soccer. I am back in Shanghai, but I am missing beautiful Xizhou. My inquiry project was woodcarving, but I changed it to Myths/Stories/Legends in Xizhou. Xizhou was a great experience and not only did it teach me many valuable lessons that I will take with me through my journey of life, but it also taught our group valuable lessons. I would like to thank Mr. Tafel and Ms. Mai for their support and patience during this trip. Microcampus has opened up my eyes, and after going to Xizhou I view our world in a totally different way. Thank you Xizhou.
